A good Georoute route depends on the round’s objective. The shortest line on the map is not always the quickest journey, and the fastest vehicle is not always the best choice. Use these tips to compare routes between the game’s real cities.

Read the objective before choosing a vehicle

In fastest mode, focus on total travel time. In cheapest mode, time does not affect the route score. In budget mode, you need to manage both: save enough money to finish, then spend where it removes the most travel time.

Count transfers, not just distance

A flight travels quickly but includes boarding time. Another flight adds connection time and a connection fare. Changing vehicle types also has a cost. Compare the entire route rather than assuming that several short flights must beat a longer drive.

For example, a nearby city may be quicker to reach by car once airport boarding time is included. Over a much longer distance, the plane’s higher speed can outweigh that delay. Check the hop’s displayed totals instead of relying only on the map.

Use ships when the objective rewards low fares

Ships are slow but have a low distance-based fare in the game. A sea crossing can help in cheapest mode, while the same crossing may hurt a fastest score. Boats and ships use different connections, so inspect the available options at each port.

Keep a budget for the final connection

Before committing to an expensive hop, look at where it leaves you. A remote destination may need an additional connection. Spending almost the whole allowance early can leave you unable to finish within the cap. Try a cheaper middle section and compare the resulting time.

Learn from hints and the optimal route

Hints work while you are on the optimal path and are limited to three per round. After submitting, compare your route with the solution: look for an unnecessary transfer, a different port or airport, or a vehicle choice that changes the total. Then try another round with the same objective.
